There are a lot of different Twitter clients out there, but they aren’t all created equally. I’ve dabbled a bit with various different programs (TweetDeck, Hootsuite, etc), but my favorite to use is, without a doubt, MediaFunnel. Here are my 5 top reasons why:

  • Multiple Accounts – On any given day I send tweets out on 4 different accounts. Not only do I have my own personal Twitter account, but I also manage Three Girls’ account and assist with a few client accounts. Some clients I’ve used in the past show multiple accounts side-by-side, which makes it really easy to accidentally send an update to the wrong account – something which can be extremely embarrassing when tweeting on behalf of clients. I haven’t had this problem with MediaFunnel, though. It’s easy to switch between accounts, but very apparent which account you’re sending the tweet through.
  • Multiple Users and Roles – I really like that MediaFunnel allows every individual to have a separate account, even if they’re through the same company. This is especially handy when we work with interns that are helping us manage social media for clients. It gives them access to the various Twitter accounts as well, but doesn’t allow them to publish without approval from Erika or me.
  • Tweet Scheduling – I know there are other clients that do this, but it’s a very handy feature. I don’t have time to sit on Twitter all day – I have work to do! This feature let’s me schedule tweets for any day and time that I want them to go out.
  • Time Release Tweeting – This is one of my favorite features! I easily find numerous articles worth sending out on Twitter all at once. Yes, I can schedule them to go out for a specific day and time, but if I just want them to go out today and be spread out, I can use the time release feature. When you originally set up an account, you set what days, time window and interval you want MediaFunnel to use, and once tweets are scheduled via Time Release it sends them out as you arranged. For example, Three Girls’ is set to Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm at 20 minute intervals. If I load up 10 tweets and set them to Time Release, it will send one out every 20 minutes within Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm so I don’t overwhelm my followers, but instead spread the updates out over the day.
  • Brand Monitoring – This feature allows you to set the terms you want to monitor. MediaFunnel regularly looks for the phrases and emails the new tweets that include the search terms.

For those of you that want a little more functionality with Twitter and/or that manage multiple accounts, I highly recommend MediaFunnel. You can check them out at mediafunnel.com.
