Now that Timeline has been introduced to Facebook, many businesses are using the new format as a way to draw in more customers. According to an article from Mashable.com, “Many companies are filling out their Timeline on Facebook back to the founding days — some dating as far back as 1822. Others are providing fans with more interactive experiences, asking them to engage in the company’s history for a chance to win prizes.” Regardless of how they’re using the new Timeline features, all companies are jumping at the chance to get creative with the cover photo. So what image should you choose to be your cover photo? Take a look at some successful examples:
HubSpot’s 17 Examples of Creative Facebook Page Cover Photos – Our favorite cover photo from this list is Dropbox’s. Sometimes the best thing you can do in marketing your business is just make people smile. This cover photo also aligns with Dropbox’s Twitter background, and helps make a relatively boring service (file hosting) more fun and accessible.
Mashable’s 20 Facebook Page Cover Photos to Inspire Your Brand – These businesses use Facebook’s cover photos as a way to engage their consumers. One of our personal favorites from this list is Dove’s cover photo. The company’s fresh-faced models are featured as the cover photo for Dove’s brand Page. “Real women have been our inspiration from the very beginning. Today your photos, stories and memorable moments make up our new timeline,” writes the company.
Constant Contact’s 16 Small Businesses with Awesome Facebook Cover Photos – If your company doesn’t have the marketing budget of Dove or Dropbox, you can still have a great and engaging cover photo. Our favorite cover photo from this list is BellaSoleil’s. In order to show just how authentic the products are, founder Elaine Topper uses a picture of Italy for her cover photo, then highlights a few products in the profile picture. This image is especially great because it helps to tell the story of the company.
While learning to use the new Facebook format may be confusing and time consuming, aspects of the timeline are very advantageous to small business. Adding an intriguing cover photo to your company’s Facebook timeline will help show consumers what your business is all about. What ways have you used cover photos or Timeline for your company?
