Is Google just for searching?

Is Google just for searching?

We are in the age of Google, and with the brand growing at an immensely overwhelming rate it is important to convey the fact that the Google family has grown beyond the basic search engine. While Google still remains at the top of the search engine game, the brand has skyrocketed and now features some of the most essential and user-friendly tools for new and emerging business. Today, we will introduce three basic tools that can serve as a starting point for any business hoping to grow and organize their endeavors online.

1. Google+: Google+ is a new social media network that has been described as the equivalent of Facebook in many ways. The main difference between Google+ and other social media networks like Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn lay in the customization opportunities set forth specifically for businesses and their leaders. Google+ allows for the usual use of photos, logos, company descriptions and other related content but also utilizes features like circles to organize contacts into sub groups. Additionally, to help keep your businesses followers, potential customers and clientele up-to-date and interested in what’s going on within the business, postings and updates from a Google+ page are given priority ranking in all Google searches. This tool is especially useful for building a brand and increasing awareness of that brand and it is an essential addition for any growing business.

2. Google Hangouts: These hangouts are a very unique feature offered for Google+ users. Google hangouts allow for free group video chat session. We have all become familiar with video chat technologies thanks to the ever present webcam and Internet chat programs like Skype, but what makes Google hangouts unique is the ability to incorporate more than two individuals into one online video chat session without upgrading to a paid account. This is a really valuable tool for any growing business as it allows the opportunity to meet face-to-face with coworkers, clients or potential customers regardless of where everyone is located. Google Hangouts removes the distance between two or more individuals in a very efficient and effective manner while also being extremely easy to use.

3. Gmail: is one of the most commonly used email programs online and for good reason. Gmail accounts come with so much more than basic email interfaces and inbox labels; they come equipped with organizational tools that are sure to set any business or business leader in the right direction when it comes to managing their time, clients and quality of work. Gmail features an online calendar and scheduling system with easy event invitations and the ability to share calendars with other users. It also allows for individual video chatting, instant messaging with other Google users, group collaboration with Google Docs and many other tools. Organization is key when building a business or brand and Gmail is just another way that Google has extended their organizational capabilities to the masses.

While Gmail, Google+ and Google Hangouts are only three of the dozens of tools and features available from the Google family, they are three of the most user-friendly and efficient tools available for any growing business or emerging business leader. Be sure to check back next week as we introduce three more tools including Google Documents, Google Places and Google Forms.
