4. Impact first. Press releases have a specific format for a reason. The point is to give all of the most relevant information as quickly as possible. Remember: do not bury the lead and provide the five W’s and the how by the second paragraph. This will make it easy for reporters to glean the information they need quickly.
5. Follow up. You wrote and sent a killer press release. So what now? This is when following up pays greatly. Being that reporters are such busy people, it could be that your press release was never opened to begin with. Reporters will also take note of those who took the time to call them, therefore giving you a better chance to get your story published.
