Does your brand scream “pin it?” As children we saw images more than words and reacted to visual stimulants with greater enthusiasm than being told something. Now here I am as an adult and I still find myself drawn to visual stimulants; I like shiny and pretty things flooded with color. When I come across a business sans Pinterest I find myself quickly moving on. You might be surprised how many people are simply passing over your brand because you have nothing to SHOW them. Here are a couple tips on how to use Pinterest effectively to “pretty up” your brand.
1. Have a Pin it! website
If you want to use Pinterest effectively, you need to make your website “pin-able.” Encourage your customers to engage with your content by adding a “Pin It!” widget on your website. Users can choose any image (hello infographic!) and pin it to their personal pages. The widget works the same as a Facebook or Twitter icon.
2. Get organized
No one likes to look at a website cluttered with meaningless words and boring images that have no rhyme or reason. Create different boards based on themes, ideas and subjects to keep everything organized and reach specific audiences. The less scrolling and searching a customer has to do, the better.
3. Brand it!
You might have just created a great infographic about your industry that went viral. Will you get any credit? Not if your brand is not written on it! Be sure to include your logo on your pins and boards so that people know which content was created by you.
4. Re-pin it!
Be active in the community and re-pin images, videos and infographics that relate to your brand; it will make you well-rounded. Plus if you re-pin something from one of your customers they are going to be pretty appreciative.
