It’s Christmas Eve! If you’re anything like me, you are running around gathering last minute trinkets and wrapping paper to decorate the gifts that have been sitting on your desk for a week. It’s complete chaos and doesn’t feel very festive; in fact, it feels more stressful and depressing. Do you get the same feeling about your social media campaign? Unfocused, depressed and overwhelmed? In the spirit of Christmas, here are four ways you can keep yourself, and your business, sane and cheerful when things get a bit chaotic.
1. Look for inspiration
A social media campaign isn’t very impressive without a little inspiration. If you are designing a campaign just for the sake of having something on social media platforms, then you are missing the point. Find companies, ideas and people that inspire you and create a presence on social media that is as strong as they are. Be that inspiration to others.
2. Be patient
You will not be an overnight social media success. I don’t care how brilliant you are; it will not happen. If I have learned anything since last Christmas it’s that appreciating the small victories and acknowledging small leaps of progression eventually lead to great success. Lay out a social media campaign that is realistic and that allows for baby steps.
3. Honesty is the best policy
In the beloved holiday film, Love Actually, one of the characters holds a sign that says, “At Christmas you tell the truth.” If that truth needs to be that you are excited about what’s ahead and are trudging through a rough patch like everyone else, then go for it! Your social media campaign is made up of paper and people; don’t abandon the people side.
4. Remember what is important
People won’t always remember what you did, but they will remember how you made them feel. Spread some positive love and important content with your followers and they’ll thank you for it.
