Facebook has scored again.

Paper, the newest app released by the king of social media last week, is a beautiful creation that will take the place of that blue icon on your iPhone immediately. At first, I was a bit skeptical due to the mixed reactions most people flood their social media feeds with whenever Facebook dares to change things up. When I downloaded Paper, however, I was instantly impressed with the gorgeous video tutorial and user interface presented on my iPhone, and simply squealed with delight as I selected which custom additions I wanted for my Paper.

While scrolling through Facebook and story updates, the same thought continued like a mantra in my head: This is social media gold.

What is Paper?

The newest app released from Facebook is a creation bred from Creative Labs, a small team of creators and innovators within Facebook’s umbrella. The work is headed by original iPhone software developer Mike Matas and emulates the everyday need for quick news (and quick laughs) all in one place. It’s your daily bread with a splash of glitter.

Moving Around Paper

As you navigate your way around Paper, you will find that Facebook’s fingerprint is hardly present and that the iPhone app is fluid, brilliant and visually stunning. The best part? It’s all about you. The iPhone app allows you to choose from a broad range of categories including Headlines, Cute, Sports, Technology, Creators and more. You can get your Grumpy Cat photos, AP highlights, daily inspiration and Facebook feed all in one place by simply sliding your finger.

What Paper Means for Social Media

With Paper, your content is now a breathing, vibrant and living thing. This means that your images need to captivate the audience more than ever and your posts need to be concise and catchy so as to not look squished in the small window of space you’re provided. There is no refresh button in Paper; stories will fly in the moment they are posted. Stories can be saved for later with Pocket, Instapaper or Pinboard. Yeah, Facebook is taking this seriously.
