I love this lie told (and admitted) by Jamie Ginsberg about blogging on social media: “Start sharing your posts more!” The truth is, it’s not that simple… or is it? Blogging for your business may seem like a pointless thing; after all, what is there really to blog about when it comes to basic products, right? Wrong!

Are you taking advantage business blogging?

Are you taking advantage business blogging?

Every business, and I mean every single type of business, needs a blog stemming from their website. Not doing so is committing SEO suicide, as is blogging every week and not having anyone read it because you haven’t bothered to share it with anyone. See where I’m going with this? To help you out with more than just a “Go out and share it” pep talk, here are a few blogging tips to help you promote your blog to customers and prospects on social media.

FACEBOOK

  1. Share it: If you don’t have a Facebook page for your business, stop reading this article right now and go create one. For those of you still here, share your blog post on your Facebook page with a captivating image and a teaser that will make people want to read more. And by a teaser, I mean 160 characters or less. You want people to go to your blog from your Facebook page so you earn those SEO points for your company. Bonus points for likes and shares from fans on Facebook, too!
  2. Promote it: Facebook has given companies the ability to promote specific posts so that more people see the update rather than it getting lost in the feed. Spend a little money and get your post in your customers’ faces by promoting the blog link.
  3. Group it: Spread the world about your business blog in relevant and affluent groups to get attention from people who already are fond of your industry or product. Blogging about the industry makes you a resource of knowledge; make sure you let people in that industry know you are credible.

TWITTER

  1. Tweet it: You’ve got 140 characters or less to give customers and prospects a taste that leaves them wanting more. Be sure to include relevant hashtags that are trending to expand the reach of your business blog; please don’t make up stupid hashtags.
  2. Tweet it again: No really, say something about your business blog again tomorrow! Twitter feeds are insane; one tweet about blogging isn’t going to cut it. Apply this same principle to other social media platforms, but stay conscious of the fine line between promotion and shoving it down your customers’ throats.

PINTEREST & INSTAGRAM

  1. Picture it: Thanks to the visual social media platforms like Pinterest and Instagram, you get the chance to catch your customers’ attention without words. Choose an image carefully, add a small caption with relevant hashtags and lead customers’ right to your blog. If the image rocks and the content is better, fellow pinners will re-pin it!
