Today’s blog post shares 4 social media marketing tips I recently put into action and was rewarded for!
A couple of months ago one of my friends from high school (Becky) became a Jamberry consultant and hosted a virtual Facebook party promoting fun, stylish fingernail wraps. I’d heard of them but hadn’t tried them out, so I ordered a few different varieties.
After being really happy with my new Jamberry nail wraps, I posted a picture on Facebook, and all of a sudden I had a few friends that sounded interested, so I decided to host my own virtual Facebook party. I had so many friends order during the party that for the cost of about 4 more designs, I was able to get 16 different styles! Why was my party so successful? Keep reading to find out.
4 Social Media Marketing Tips From a Virtual Facebook Party
Before jumping into these tips, I’d like to note that I wasn’t the only one using these strategies. Becky and I worked together to update the private Facebook group during the party and engage with my friends “attending.”
1. Make it personal. A very important key to successful social media marketing is the word social. A great way to be sociable with your followers is to make it personal in two different ways.
- Be a human. Show emotion and excitement and provide a glance into who you are. For my Jamberry Facebook party, I did this by posting pictures of nail wraps I was sporting (like the ones to the right), sharing which styles I personally liked and even making memes out of pictures I’d taken (like the one at the top of the post).
- Relate it to them. Pay attention to your followers and how they engage. What information do they give you about themselves that you can use to show them you’re paying attention? Becky and I both did this by tagging people. Although she didn’t know everyone, she paid attention to what my friends liked and commented on and tagged them in related posts. Because I have relationships with my friends offline, I tagged them in updates I knew they’d have a particular interest in, such as a wrap I knew my cousin would love.
2. Give something away. Becky offered a lot of chances for my virtual Facebook party guests to get free samples or win accent wraps/pedicure packs, and the response from it was great! As you think about your company’s social media marketing, brainstorm various items you can offer followers. Maybe do a giveaway once a month or offer some sort of prize to whoever answers a trivia question about your business.
3. Be responsive. This goes back to the social element of social media marketing. No one likes to feel ignored, right? So pay attention to your followers! If they ask a question, answer it; if they comment on an update, either respond or at the very least “like” their reply. When one of my friends asked a question about Jamberry, Becky was very quick to answer. When another one posted a picture of their nails with the free sample, I commented with something I liked about it. Remember, if you want your followers to engage with you, you need to engage with them!
4. Make it timely. Your social media marketing efforts will be much more compelling to your followers if it can relate to their lives right now. Becky did this by posting pictures of seasonal wraps (Halloween, Thanksgiving and winter) so my party participants could get ideas of styles they could wear right away. Think about ways to relate your business to upcoming holidays, the current time of year or current events.
As you manage your company’s social media marketing, remember to make it personal, give something away, be responsive and make it timely. Have you ever been to a virtual Facebook party? How did it go? Share any insight gleaned from your experience in the comments below!
