I don’t know about you, but I love all things Disney; and with an upcoming visit to Disneyland on my personal to do list, I started thinking of all the things I admire about the company both personally and professionally. In this blog post, I highlight three lessons that any marketing pro can learn from the impeccable marketing and service records of the Disneyland Resort.
The three lessons are:
1. Create unity among your fans: Disney lovers come to Disneyland and become one family; that unity is something the company is known for. The Disney Company creates an environment based on mutual love for creativity, dreams and imagination – all of the values that the company was built upon. When creating your own campaigns for marketing, try using your company’s unique values to make your fans feel as though they are part of a bigger community or family. Your business will only become stronger by forging relationships among fans.
2. Remember your strengths but be innovative: Disneyland understands what works and what doesn’t. Their practices are full of trial and error to find the perfect services for their guests, and they are constantly evolving as an effort to stay fresh and current while also embracing their classic traditions. Keep this in mind when you are creating your own public relations, marketing or social media campaign. Don’t ever get so comfortable with your own success that you stop looking for ways to become even stronger.
3. Think of EVERYTHING: When you walk into Disneyland you are transported to a different time, a different place and a totally different world. Every detail is given intense consideration and care. There isn’t a single flower that wasn’t planted on purpose or a light that was lit by accident. Disney’s example is one to live by when creating plans for your marketing efforts. Be sure to think of every detail when creating your plans. Do not leave anything out, as even the smallest details can be the most important.
