According to Social Media Today, nearly half of U.S. companies have taken on strategies for content marketing, and more than 75% of Chief Marketing Officers think custom content represents marketing’s future. This is totally believable when realizing the amount of money spent on the production and distribution of custom content comes in around $44 billion.
Some of the top dogs have stepped in to offer advice on how to best execute content marketing. Here’s 4-must do’s they have to offer:
4 Content Marketing Tips
- Know your audience: It would be silly to try and fit your content to a certain mold if you didn’t know what your demographic wanted to see. Gaging their interests and preferences will allow your business to tailor content to fit the needs of your audience. Content marketing isn’t about you; it’s about the people you are trying to reach.
- Blog your heart away! Keeping a company blog is one of the easiest ways to make custom content and drive search engine results. Your business should use all of its available channels to create custom content and promote itself. Why not talk up your amazing product or service if you can?
Your blogs don’t need to all be shameless pitches, but instead they can be educational or helpful information about things that are related to the company, product or service. This will add value to your business and build trust among your customers. - Take note and correct: Track and evaluate which content is creating the most buzz in your content marketing. Focus on the posts that are generating the most traffic or conversations. If a tactic isn’t working well, swap it out for another approach. If something else is doing better, stick with that!
- Invest in photos and video: In your content marketing, images quickly draw in attention; that applies to both photos and infographics. They also are great for breaking up text which often times disengages the reader. Adding a few photos to your content can liven up what may have been a plain post.Videos are also important because they heavily inspire potential customers to buy products or services, and they increase the likelihood that your company will show up in Google search results. Not all videos are created equal though; they must be under 2 minutes and 30 seconds to effectively help your company reach optimized content marketing– it’s even better if you make custom content.
