Movies have evolved so much in their marketing strategies and continue to find new ways to raise ticket prices every year, yet we as consumers still go to midnight showings. It might be time to take a few notes from some of the most popular Hollywood movies and apply it to your social media marketing strategy.

5 Movies That Will Improve Your Social Media Marketing Efforts 

1. Minority Report – Targeted Advertising 

“John, you need to shave! Better buy Gillette!” In this futuristic film, stores are scanning DNA of walk-by customers and marketing directly to them by using their name and data they gathered via retina scan. While I don’t suggest this marketing strategy quite yet, an important lesson from this movie is to take the time to understand your target audience and reach them directly. Also, try and anticipate what your customer’s want based on data you already have. 

2. Toy Story – Collaboration

When Steve Jobs owned Pixar, it was going downhill fast. But once he made the decision to partner with Disney to create one of the best movies of all time (with amazing profits!), Pixar was rescued and is now a well-known company. The talents of Pixar paired with Disney’s impeccable marketing tactics helped create many more projects that have gone on to top the box office. Try this tactic by teaming up with other local businesses and broadening your reach.

3. Moneyball – Look at the Data 

I adored this movie for two reasons: 1) The script was incredibly well-written and 2) It gave you a behind-the-scenes look at how baseball teams are created. Also, it starred Brad Pitt. But besides all that, Moneyball dove into the data of baseball and the numbers that add up to success. Get the most bang for your buck by digging deep into CRM and finding that overlooked data that might be the winning solution you need to attract an audience.
