Recently, many social media sites have been revealing new looks; they have undergone a redesign meant to increase customer engagement on their sites. In this blog we will discuss what each of the top social media networks has done to prompt customer engagement with a new look. This information could help your company know how to better market on each site.
Google+
Google+ has made a lot of changes within the past month. The site has given itself a new look that spurs customer engagement by way of larger cover photos, more prominently seen “about” tabs and “edit” buttons, and a way to review local companies. These changes are mainly visual, and are meant to attract users to certain aspects of each other’s profile. This is a good business move for Google+ ; the new look is screaming “interact with me”, therefore, promoting customer engagement.
Throughout the past years, Facebook has had multiple redesigns to its interface. However, the most recent new look of Facebook will come this year due to the company’s social media monitoring of its users. Changes to its Timeline are being made that encourage customer engagement. Their changes have mainly been to prompt user engagement with the ads on their site by using larger photos and videos. Again, the trend seems to be visual appeals. They are also making the News Feed the first thing that users see when they sign on. The new look is set to inspire customer engagement and keep users interested in the site by way of increased visual stimulation.
Subtle, yet effective changes are being made to the Pinterest site. The popular “pinning” network has been testing out a new look: one that makes navigating the site easier, and includes larger pictures. Pinterest is making their site more user-friendly by way of a new categorizing system that lets users see where their pins came from, and potentially where they can acquire similar pins from. Pulling up a now larger photograph is not just more visually appealing. It is also now a categorizing method meant to prompting customer engagement with the site and other pinners by offering a list of similar pictures that relate to the one being looked at.
All of these changes to our favorite social media sites have the goal of encouraging customer engagement. The new look of each site should allow your company to increase their presence on each platform, and the more visually appealing networks should be taken into account when creating your business’ marketing strategy.
